Dota 2 pick helper

Add the heroes on your team and the enemy team — this suggests who to pick next and exactly why, using real hero-vs-hero matchup win rates for counters plus lineup theory for synergy, damage mix and role coverage. Like having a captain read the draft for you.

Frequently asked questions

How does the pick helper decide who to suggest?

It scores every available hero on three things: real hero-vs-hero matchup win rates against the enemy heroes you entered (counters), how well the hero completes your lineup (missing roles, damage-type balance, initiation and control), and a light nudge from the hero’s overall win rate. The highest combined score is suggested first.

Where does the counter data come from?

From OpenDota’s public hero matchup statistics — the aggregate win rate of each hero against every other hero across a large sample of public matches. We pull it periodically and store it; the tool doesn’t call any live API while you use it.

Is this only for ranked / captains mode?

No — it works for any pick phase. Enter whoever is already picked on both sides at any point in the draft and it recommends the strongest next pick. You can leave the enemy side empty to just build a synergistic lineup.

Why isn’t a "classic" counter like Anti-Mage vs Medusa at the top?

Because the ranking uses measured public-match win rates, not theorycraft. Anti-Mage vs Medusa, for example, is nearly a 50/50 in real pub games — the mana-burn counter exists on paper, but average players don’t convert it into wins, so the data shows almost no edge. The heroes at the top are the ones that actually win against that lineup this patch. Use the "Why not my hero?" checker under the suggestions to see the real numbers for any hero.
