Frequently asked questions

How does the bot pick?

The bot uses the same engine as our pick helper: for its own team it scores every remaining hero on real matchup win rates against your heroes (counters) plus lineup synergy, and picks one of the top options. On Hard it always takes the single best pick; on Normal and Easy it varies among the top few. Its reasoning is shown in the draft commentary after every pick.

How is my pick judged in the commentary?

After you pick, the engine re-scores every hero that was still available at that moment against the bot’s current lineup. Your hero’s rank in that list decides the verdict — top-3 is a great pick, top-12 solid — and if a clearly stronger hero was available, the commentary names it and explains its edge. The advantage meter above the teams updates after every pick.

How is the winner decided?

When both teams have five heroes, we compute each side’s drafted advantage — the sum of real hero-vs-hero matchup edges across all cross-matchups, plus the synergy gap between the two lineups. The team with the higher advantage “wins” the draft. It measures the draft, not an actual played game.

Is the counter data real?

Yes — hero-vs-hero win rates come from OpenDota’s public match statistics, pulled and stored periodically. Synergy is composition theory: role coverage, initiation and control, and a balanced physical/magical damage mix.
