Dota 2 Wards and Taunts Worth Comparing Before You Buy
Pick a global ward or a hero taunt by the look you will enjoy, and check styles first.

If you play many heroes, start with a ward skin; if you have a favourite hero, look at that hero’s taunts first. Below are named cosmetics to preview rather than a ranking of deals. Wards and taunts change how your game looks and sounds. They add nothing to vision or combat strength, so buy the look you will enjoy.

How to compare ward skins
- Look at both the observer and the sentry appearance, not just the shop thumbnail.
- Check the model at normal zoom, over both bright and dark ground.
- Open the style selector. A screenshot of an upgraded style does not mean your purchase includes it.
- Compare the exact item and quality in the ward list.
Pick for your own enjoyment. A ward skin changes how the ward looks. Map awareness and placement still do the work.
Shifty Minnow: check the style, not just the name
The 2017 reward history makes Shifty Minnow a good example of why styles matter. If you like an appearance you have seen in a picture, open the style selector on the exact item being offered. Count a style as confirmed only when the item itself shows it. If the offer has only a generic thumbnail, judge the base look and skip paying extra for an unlock you cannot see.
Aperture Science Wardcore and Ward of the Phoenix offer different themes. Treat them as a visual starting point and check how they look in the current game. Preview both ward forms at normal zoom rather than judging a close-up in your inventory.
Three checks before buying a taunt
Take Taunt: Fluid Mechanics as a Jakiro candidate. First, confirm the exact taunt and hero. Second, preview the full animation and sound. Third, check how the current client equips and activates it. If it does not play, check your taunt key binding: the purchase leaves key assignment to you, and a key problem alone does not mean the listing was wrong.
If you love the animation but rarely pick Jakiro, buy a ward you will use on every hero first. If Jakiro is your regular pick, start with the taunt. Stop when the planned purchase fits your budget, because several “almost free” extras can still add up.
What these six cost
The six cosmetics above differ in price. In our 23 July 2026 price data, Ward of the Phoenix and Shifty Minnow were cheaper than the Jakiro taunt, while Aperture Science Wardcore cost more. So a global cosmetic can be the cheaper choice. Prices change daily, so check the current price and the checkout total in the ward list and the taunt list, and compare other items in the price table.
