IMMORTAL

Dota 2 Immortal items explained

Immortals are the effect-bearing items that make up the busy middle of the whole economy — cheap, liquid and everywhere, with rare golden variants worth a fortune. Here's how the tier works and where to see every Immortal priced live.

What is an Immortal?

An Immortal is an effect-bearing cosmetic — an item that adds a distinctive visual flourish to a hero's ability, weapon or animation. Historically most Immortals arrived through treasures tied to The International battle passes, which is why the tier is enormous and instantly recognisable in almost every pub game.

Why most Immortals are cheap and liquid

The defining feature of the Immortal tier is huge supply. Because so many were attached to battle passes bought by tens of thousands of players, copies flooded the market — which makes the typical Immortal both cheap and extremely liquid: easy to buy and easy to sell at a fair price. That liquidity is exactly what makes Immortals a good starting point for anyone learning to flip items.

The golden and rare variants

The exception to the "cheap" rule is the scarce variants. Many Immortals shipped with a rare golden version or an unlockable alternate style, produced in far smaller numbers. Those can sell for many multiples of the standard item, and the very rarest — combined with a coveted gem — sit among the priciest tradable items in the game. Rarity within the tier, not the tier itself, is where the money is.

Where Immortals come from

Immortals enter the economy through treasures and event passes. When a new batch releases, supply spikes and prices dip; as a treasure retires, the rarer items climb again. If you're deciding whether to open a treasure for Immortals or just buy the one you want, run the numbers first in the treasure calculator. The full mechanics are in Immortal items explained.

Frequently asked questions

What is an Immortal item in Dota 2?

An Immortal is an effect-bearing cosmetic that adds a visual flourish to a hero's ability, weapon or animation. Most originally came from treasures tied to The International battle passes, making the tier large and widely recognised.

Why are most Immortals so cheap?

Supply. Immortals were distributed through battle passes bought by huge numbers of players, so copies flooded the market. That makes the typical Immortal both inexpensive and very liquid — easy to buy and sell.

What makes some Immortals expensive?

Scarce variants. Golden versions, unlockable styles and rare gem combinations were produced in small numbers and can sell for many multiples of the standard item. Rarity within the tier drives the price, not the Immortal label itself.

Where do Immortal items come from?

They enter the economy through treasures and event battle passes. New releases spike supply and lower prices; as a treasure retires and supply stops, the rarer Immortals climb in value again.
