Dota 2 Immortal Items Explained

The effect-bearing tier that fills the mid-market — why standard Immortals are cheap, and which ones are quietly worth a fortune.

Immortal is the tier that most players trade the most. These are the effect-bearing items — special particles, animations and sometimes new ability visuals — that historically came from Immortal Treasures around The International. Most are cheap; a few are among the priciest items in the game. Understanding the difference is the whole game.

What makes an Immortal an Immortal

Unlike a plain set that just re-skins a hero, an Immortal carries a built-in effect — a glowing weapon trail, a reworked spell visual, a custom animation. They slot into a specific hero ability or equipment slot and are instantly recognizable in-game. That visible effect is why the tier is so popular.

Why most Immortals are cheap

Immortal Treasures were handed to a massive audience through battle passes, so tens of thousands of copies entered the market at once. Abundant supply plus steady demand makes most standard Immortals cheap and extremely liquid — easy to buy, easy to sell, with a tiny spread. For a great-looking effect on a budget, the Immortal tier is the sweet spot.

Where the value hides

  • "Golden" variants. Many treasures hid a rare golden version of an Immortal with an enhanced effect at a low drop rate. Once the treasure retired, those scarce copies can sell for many times the standard version.
  • Exalted upgrades. Battle-pass Exalted Immortals came from a small pool of players who leveled high enough, and the pool never reopened — so they usually beat the base item on price.
  • Old-TI Immortals. Items from early Internationals sit on supply that can only shrink, quietly appreciating over the years.

Buying Immortals smartly

  1. Decide effect vs. rarity. If you just want the look, a standard Immortal is cheap and perfect.
  2. Check the variant. Confirm whether a listing is standard, golden or exalted — the price gap is huge, as covered in item qualities.
  3. Use live data. Sort the price table within the Immortal tier to see the real spread before you pay.
